All readers and library books are due back for end of term stocktake and organisation. If you have any lying around at home, please bring them back to school. As it is a short week, and readers are due back, there won't be any Homefun this week - except for Mathletics. Make sure to pop online and complete your tasks for the week!

This week our focus was on being a positive role model to those around us. Room 16 did an excellent brainstorm at the beginning of the week, showing that we had a really good understanding of what we need to do in order to be positive role models. Throughout the week, Room 16 did really well to be good role models, and those that really stood out were Darius, Ayesha, Elianna, Stazia, William, Brianna, Charlotte, Stazia, Jordan, and Spencer. These wonderful students really shone and earned badges and house tokens. Fantastic work at being really great role models, Room 16!

This weekend, Room 16 had a very special visitor pop into our classroom. Mrs Woodfield (Mr Woodfield's mother) came by! She's a teacher too - as is most of Mr Woodfield's family - and she left a lovely sneaky message on the whiteboard. On Monday morning we read it together and had a good chat about where Saudi Arabia is. I'd encourage you to have a look at Mrs Woodfield's blog and to read about her many adventures in Saudi Arabia - and all over the world!

This week, our focus was on considering our choices by using traffic light thinking. This means that we stop, think, then do. Room 16 worked really hard on doing our best at this. Some standout students, who earned badges and house tokens were Callum, Oscar, Jackson, and Denzel. Well done, you four!

My apologies Room 16! Your Homefun will be ready to take home tomorrow, once I've finished marking all the books of those who completed last week's task. In the meantime, feel free to pop on to Mathletics, where I've set you all new tasks for this week!

Our focus for this week was moving safely around the school and reporting hazards. At the beginning of the week we did an excellent brainstorm where Room 16 showed just how much they knew about this focus! Everyone tried really hard to demonstrate this every day, and a big well done to Josh who demonstrated it this week.

Our focus this was to be respectful by using kind words and good manners. Well done to all of Room 16 for working super hard and being successful, but a huge pakipaki for Kya, Oscar, Jocelyn, and Stazia who were especially awesome, earning a badge and house token!

Our Friday Fun at the moment is focussed on Te Reo, and as part of that Room 16 has been learning a waiata called Toia mai te waka. This is a song about us coming together as one, although we come from many different backgrounds. Room 16 certainly are beautiful singers, and hopefully you'll get to hear us singing it in the upcoming Pukeko celebration!
Tōia mai te waka nei
Haul this canoe ashore
Kumea mai te waka nei
Drag this canoe ashore
Ki te takotoranga takoto ai
To its special resting place
Tiriti te mana motuhake
And the Treaty bestowing on us our absolute authority
Te tangi a te manu e
Heralded by the cry of the bird
The shining cuckoo
Kui, kui, kui
Whiti, whiti ora
For good to prevail
Hui e, tāiki e
As we unite together as one
Well done to all of Room 16 for working hard at our PB4L focus this week - being respectful by listening to adult instructions. Those who stood out especially this week were William, Josh, Jackson, Rahzel, Charlotte, Denzel, Harry, and Oscar. Well done!
